Looks like Handspring is going after the Blackberry market with this device. This article on cnet news shows the pics and has a description:

Looks like it may have a jog dial on the side too.

    The Manhattan and The Shea?

Hmm. Also looks like if it is springboard capable, it would need a cradle like the Edge.

oh joy! oh glee! oh rapture! I only hope they will be avaialble in canada w/service, unlike the visorphone. I think making a keypad version is slick, slick, slick. lots of people have a mental prejudice agains graffiti.

but wait... (reality sinks in) i dont see any springboard slots...i would so miss my eyemodule2

If Handspring releases something like these before May 2002 and it has a color screen and a it is springboard-compatible, that would definitely be my next PDA.

I am soooo not impressed if it does not have a springboard slot. How many failed phone/pda combo devices does Handspring need to see? I do like the thumb keypad idea, but if it doesn't have spingboard technology (which is what spearated them from the rest) they are in for a major gamble. Both of these devices (albeit prototypes) appear b/w too, which is exactly what most people here have NOT been looking for.

Boo, no springboard slot. This thing looks so cool I might even not mind the sled I agree Marcus though, this is probably the start of a new line of handhelds, seperate from the Visor line. Certainly explains the "free" Visorphones.

I hate to go against the grain here, but I wouldn't want a springboard slot in my PDA Phone. Having my contact, appointment and other business apps integrated with my phone (if it is small enough) is about as good as it gets. The visorphone springboard is way to clunky IMHO. An SD slot would be mighty interesting though!

Something about the Treo's was nagging at my sub-concious and it just ocurred to me! The Treo's look just like the Star Trek communicators (original series)!

The thing that makes me wonder is: how big is this thing???

I do LOVE the keyboard version. I think HS should give that option on all news Visors...

They look cool and have wireless connectivity. But will they have color and more memory, tons more (ie 128 or 256)? If it has those two features I'd willing to part with my prism. I know this amounts to heresy. But I think I could live without the SB mods, specially since I only use the mem mods.

Not heresy at all. Different strokes for different folks. Not all shoes have laces, not all ice cream has nuts or cherries. No?

Personally I'm not impressed I am partial to the Visor Phone/Deluxe. Plus if I want a keyboard I would get one of those snap on ones.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that the Compaq Ipaq can have large amounts of memory. Can any one confirm or deny?

This all means NOTHING to me, seeing as I would never shell out the money for the service. Darn, new models aren't for me.

    Ernie,
Settle down, now. This news about the "Treo" does not mean there are no other "new models" out there just for you. Patience.."
