LOL... Do you really know the stock price movement of Palm? I doubt...

Time will tell... They certainly seem to be acting like a company very low on reserves.

All I know is that if they don't pull a miracle with the "Nova" very soon they aren't getting MY cash. And it had better not have one of those Fisher-Price keyboards...
Treo 755s in good condition available on ebay for $50-$75. No need to pay for insurance or buy a Pre.

In the last 12 months, D/E is already 108%, do you understand what does it mean? D/E above 0.5, already high indication of bankrupt...

I don't wanna list all the key ratios here, you can check their annual report by yourself.

I am actually pleased with Palm's results. (there is always room for further improvements, of course) In this Q, Palm was "living" off Central product with a little bit help from 800w. That was it! Central should be considered as an "aging" product in now a days Smart Phone market and it carried a very "THIN" margin... Palm delivered more revenue and spent less money - what else could we ask for - Palm has been in the new products development cycle for a while and that burned cash too...

Now with Treo Pro is available, going forward, we all should be able to see a better/brighter future for Palm...

Just a side note, I was in Beijing on business trip and took yesterday PM off to "walk around" in EWorld building/market hoping to buy a Pro at a cost lesser than Palm Store's price. No such luck, one store told me that he got 10 Pro last night and was sold off before lunch time and he got another 15 folks on the waiting list and it would require a deposit of RMB500 (USD73) to be on his waiting list. Here is the best part for these folks "crying" of Pro price of being USD 549, the Pro is selling in Beijing's grey market for RMB 4685 = USD 685.

Let's get our figure crossed and hope Palm will ride it out...

You were in Beijing yesterday? You saw couple of people were interested in treo pro and you then thought it's gonna hit big sales in China or even Asia?

Do you know how many palm stores in Beijing or any other big cities in China? Do you know palm was kicked out of China back to 2004 (http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...0/ai_n22712479) and palm could never make a comeback since then?

It's interesting you mentioned China market coz palm's business in China is pathetic. If you were REALLY in China, you would witness iphone, Dopod, BB or others occupy the majority of market and nearly no one is aware of a brand called Palm.

Of course the sales price of treo is higher in China, why didn't you mention Iphone's price in China? Don't mislead people when you just saw bunch of guys in China would pay for treo pro coz it would make any difference to palm's dire situation at all.

Someone mentions what THEY saw and you attack them?

    For what?

Posts like yours is the reason threads have been going straight to hell around here lately.

    jasper23,
By no means to mis-lead anyone, I only wish to share with my own experience - what I saw and heard with the folks here. Interesting you have mentioned iPhone - it is available in Silk Alley (I did not see much of iPhone in eWorld) and I saw iPhone compatibles (for lack of a better word) - iPhone "look like", even with the UI sales for 1/2 to 2/3 of the iPhone price. There is no indication of iPhone is better or worse than any other phone, this is my own experience to share.

Last point, I think you should relax and take it easy, perhaps drink less coffee/tea... Go with the flow... Who knows what tomorrow will bring...

    Enjoy life...

More than likely since palm has been going down hill since the release of the Treo 650.

I think the issue isn't as much Palm going downwards as the competition going upwards. It's a much tougher market now than it was back then.

I don't think Elevation Partners would have invested in Palm if they didn't think it had a future.

I was only joking... but I think we are both right.

Palm went down and the competition went up.

I don't think anyone has totally written Palm off. Palm does have a hard road ahead...

But so much has been discussed already... kinda boring... I'm outta here.

They are still losing money while the Centro are selling so well? Aren't we buying enough?

The Centro is an entry level, mucho-cheapo device. Not much profit in that, especially when everyone else is shifting $800, high margin flagship devices.

The Centro basically got a lot of people to start getting smartphones (whereas they might not have otherwise). Sounds like a good strategy to get people in, then offer better devices. You gotta follow up for that to work though...

Same-old, same-old every quarter; probably the same half dozen shorts posting in all the Palm/Treo forums. They may be better served in the traders boards.
