I too was considering the Instinct. However, the deal killer for me was that you can't sync the calendar or contacts.

I probably won't switch to a Samsung but may consider the new 800w to replace the 755.

thats also another option... just not sure if i can deal with windows....

I'd rather have the 800 over the 850... any day. Looks are not everything.

I briefly thought about the Samsung, until I started doing my research... The Instinct is not for me due to limited Outlook syncing and some software issues.

Instinct is pretty, but less useful to me than my 700wx.

I'll wait for the 800w and see how that goes with the Guinea pi -- I mean, early adopters.

edit: your poll is a bit confusing... I doubt if I'll ever use a palm OS again... I'll always use the windows, which is due out next month in a treo. I was looking into a google mobile os, but it seems it will be tied tightly into google.... no thanks. Plus, we have yet to see how well google will do with the OS... could be a bomb like most other things they have developed, outside of search.

This was posted over at gizmo... True? Who knows... about the same as the rest of the gossip we see floating around from time to time. If true, no way many will go to an "everything plan" to get an Instinct.

Bad up sell strategy. (Again, if true.)

Here is something that came across my desk today:

The Samsung Instinct™ will be here June 20th!
Only from Sprint. Only on the Now Network™.

Our new Samsung Instinct launches this week, and we'll be offering it to our customers at a phenomenal price of $129.99 after instant savings and mail-in rebate.

While we knew interest would be high, the ultra-competitive price now means we're forecasting unprecedented demand for the Instinct - higher than originally anticipated. Therefore, to get it into our customers' hands first, it will not be immediately available through employee phone programs as originally planned.

Once we have a couple of weeks to gauge sales demand, we'll let you know exactly when the Instinct will be available to employees. Once available, the Instinct pricing will be as follows:

Employee Discount Rate Plan (EDRP): Instant price $129.99*
Normal employee program upgrade eligibility rules apply (once every 12 months).

    Advantage Club: $129.99* after $100 mail-in rebate
Normal employee program upgrade eligibility rules apply (once every 12 months). Compatible with all three Advantage Club rate plans.

Sprint Exclusive Referral Offer (SERO): $129.99* after $100 mail-in rebate
At launch, the Instinct will only be available for SERO customers selecting the $99 Simply EverythingSM Unlimited Plan either with a new line of service or as an upgrade. New SERO rate plans that are compatible with the Instinct will launch on July 13th. SERO subscribers upgrading to the Instinct before July 13th will need to swap out their current rate plan for the $99 Simply Everything Unlimited Plan or will need to move to a non-SERO account.

    * Requires new activation or eligible upgrade. Full retail price of $449.99 applicable for ineligible upgrades.

When the Instinct is available, getting one couldn't be easier-just call, click or visit:

EDRP: Visit a Campus Retail Store or call EDRP Telesales at 888-503-3078

Advantage Club: Visit a Campus Retail Store or go to the Advantage Club Online Store (type "employeephone" in your i-Connect browser, then choose to Shop Advantage Club)

SERO: Click www.sprint.com/sero or call 1-888-882-4030

yes, it does seem my post above was correct... Instinct only with the $99 plan.

I average 300 minutes on calls with sprint sero... at the $50 plan (I get 1250 minutes)... why would I need a $99 "unlimited" plan? I already have unlimited data.

    Very odd up-selling.

Hopefully sprint won't decide that the 800wx needs an "unlimited plan." lol...

I went into the sprint store on the 18th June after being told by phone customer service that i don't have to change my plan. Now, I was skeptical about the switch to begin with. Being told in the store that I would have to give up the plan I currently have (3 phones, 2000 anytime, nights & weekends 7 PM, unlimited data, for $110 per month taxes included) to get the Instinct. I couldn't do it. I walked out of the store. That deal made up my mind for me.

I'm baffled as to why sprint went this route... att and apple can get away with it... apple has a loyal following and the iphone simply smokes... you have something anytime your device is the "standard". The Samsung Instink is thought of as a clone.

My guess is that they drop the BS "unlimited plan" and allow for everyone to purchase the phone at a higher rate (maybe a tad over $200), and keep their current plans.

Either way I won't get the Instink, but I'm hoping that this fails so sprint is not tempted to try this again...

Looks like Sprint are going to treat us SERO customers like stepchildren. Never mind, I'm enjoying my Centro.
NiceGPSuperior1 is a free GPS program, now with the ability to save your map! Get more info here. It's free! If you like this app and want to encourage development, you can donate from the web page link.

NiceDrudgeReader is a fast, simple reader for The Drudge Report. It is only $0.99, so check it out, too! More info here.

Sprint is trying to get their old Sprint customers out of their old plans. I had ordered two but they verfied today by retentions that it will require a new minutes data everything plan. The sales agents are not doing their job of telling customers what's happening. The retention agent said he went to a store and checked on it and the sales agents were not telling the customers about the downside of the Instinct. He would not say anything yes or no if Sprint was going to do the same with the Treo 800Wa I guess a person could get an instinct and go with Verzion.

I bet when sprint releases new phones that "THEY" believe will be hot sellers (instinct, 800W) they will be offering them with the eveything plans. I believe their goal is to get people out of their old plans.

i ain't changing my plan, i got the touch instead and very happy i did

But its all a pipe dream... there is NO WAY that Sprint's current customer base, those used to rates cheaper than Verizon, etc, will go for $70/mo plans as a whole, regardless of what little perks they throw in (TV, nav, etc). Particularly in the current economy, I just can't see ALL of Sprint's customers going for these SEPs (Simply EXTRAVAGANT Plans).

And its all imaginary... Sprint is forcing on would-be Instinct customers plans that it isn't even (yet) forcing on its PDAphone customers, EVEN THOUGH, the Instinct is NOT a PDAphone, it is just another MM touch-featurephone. Verizons got several such phones (Voyager, Glyde, Dare) and even it isn't treating those phones any different than any other MM feature phone in terms of plan requirements. So Sprint's Instinct tactics cannot last -- can't standup to the market dynamics, not in the long run...

No calendar, contact and Mac syncing is the deal breaker for me. Too bad, because I tried out the demo at the store and really liked it.

I think it's iphone 3G for me since I'm now out of contract. My 755p is looking rather long in the tooth at this point.

anyone know if sprint is still enforcing the instinct to be used with only the everything plan?
