I've searched and found quite a few threads on purchasing a SIM or TIM card to use while in Italy, but haven't seen anywhere that I can do what I'm hoping I can do. I'm going to Italy in October for around three weeks and just purchased a used unlocked 680 to use there as I am on Sprint and figured this would be better than just renting a genaric phone like I've always done. The apartment we rented in Tuscany does not offer internet service and I hate going to an internet cafe during hours I could be doing touristy things. I can use my laptop late at night, so here's my question.

Is there a SIM or TIM (as I see is used in Italy), that I can use for data on the Treo and hook to PdaNET without going broke? What I'm asking is, can't I sign up for a pay as you go with unlimited internet for one month over there? Anyone know? Thanks.

I emailed and received a response from an ebay seller. Here's what he said, which sounds great to me. Now I have to figure out how to get one, and what the settings would be, but I have a few months to research it. Each of the links provided has a spot for an English version at the bottom.

I still would love to hear from anyone who has done this or can better explain what they did.

    Dear rick7576,

Hi, Vodafone (and also Tim) sim cards have internet connection (both GPRS and UMTS). You can activate a flat tarif plan for internet connection: 10 Euro for 30 hours and 20 Euro for 100 hours (monthly). You can use your unlocked Treo (appropriately configurated). Take a look at these links:
