So in other words, if we haven't been contacted and if we were one of the early applicants, then its unlikely? (I know you can't answer this anyway, its really just a guess.)

We haven't contacted anyone yet, since we decide on the tester list as a group.

    Thanks,

    Doug

can i just say that there was one forum member who knew about this test and signed up before it was posted here (previous centercode tester). said member would be a little annoyed if he doesnt get picked.

    ;-)

    just saying.

Well, I will say this as a reminder... if you don't get picked for this beta test, don't consider this a loss... Centercode does a number of beta tests on a variety of different items. That why I posted earlier and said that it was in everyone's interest to register. It's not just about a one shot. You never know what comes up in the future.

Yeah maybe later you will be able to test a new palm OS

Sounds interesting... I used to beta test games for Microsoft and it was worth it. I did it for free but the perks were great. I even got a free trip to visit the Microsoft campus in 2000 and see how it all works.

Don't expect anything like that from Palm but my point is it was alot of fun and very rewarding.

If its a product I REALLY want (Treo 800w) and I have a chance to influence its development, I'd even purchase the product up front for a chance to beta (save the first day Sprint Treo 700p owners jokes ).

    Perks are just nice throw-ins.

Today's "mytreo.net Newsletter" had an article about Palm needing beta testers and a link. https://feedback.palm.com/callout/?c...725be5fa6d6a30

I thought I'd give it a try, since I enjoy learning how various software performs.

I was somewhat put off by some of the questions that were asked in the sign up form, so I'm curious if anyone else has applied for this project?

We think its beta testing for the Foleo. Several of us applied, but I am sure any of those actually selected are bound by a NDA.

As was stated earlier, I doubt it 's got to do with the Foleo, because 680 owners are eligible.

I couldn't complete the form as I live outside the US and only US networks were listed under carriers

Obviously from the 5 page thread above, lots of people....

I think 680s will work fine with the Foleo, despite what they said at the sneak peeks. It seems there will be a new VersaMail 4 that will allow Palm Treos to sync with the Foleo. If VM4 is released for the 700/755p, it will either be released or hacked for the 680.

I too signed up for this beta test as soon as I got the e-mail from centercode (I am signed up to their e-list for project notifications), I noticed a few posters mentioned for "680 and newer", what exactly does that entail? Is the release date or model number? I have a 700w, am I in or out? Since release wise it's older than the 680 but numerically after :-D
My Palm Treo 700w was a snitch

    Your kidding!!!!

God forbid they give you a Foleo so that you can actually report on its capabilities and shortcomings before launch.

P.S. By the way would be really missed up for the rest of us if you were telling the truth

    Just kidding....or am I?
This is the type of immaturity that Doug was saying may threaten beta opportunities for all of us!

Next time someone complains about why Palm doesn't look to TC for beta testers, they need look no further than this thread.

    1) I hope he's kidding and didn't really get anything.

    2) Whether or not he got anything, there's NO chance CC will select him again for any beta tests in the future.
