No in fact I do know that it is not fake. 100%. Every Phone in the Ten page roadmap is a pic of a pic. I had to crop it so as to not reveal it's source. However, you are absolutely correct, and i stand corrected. Everyone has their right to skepticsism, and our "times" they aren't a changing. Maybe my reaction was a bit strong, but by that I meant no harm, I certianly didn't intend to go on the attack. Freedom is on the move, so have it! Even this is taken attention away from the Foleo. (did I mention how much that thing upset me?)

As it happens, there are reports of the 800W and Gandolf at other places over the web as well. (I don't think I can get used to the name "Gandolf" - what does it mean?).

At any time, companies like Palm will always have several future products under development, so this should surprise no one. The timing, is suspect though (you've mentioned as much). And it does take some attention off the Foleo.

There are a few things, though, where is the speaker aperture? Is it on the back side? Or, is it a pic of a mock-up, a place holder for some other device to be announced? Let me mention that here, I'm not being a skeptic, I only wish to figure out how these things are implemented, and what the final shape of the device will be like. Some kind of a minor detective work, if you will. I think this is the kind of discussion that makes T|C so lively.
    Game over!

    Ad revenue.

It has a non-square screen, LifeDrive-style buttons, and 600-style keyboard. And the D-pad's right and left edges are wider than a thumb. That is, you can't just rock back and forth.

    It ain't real.

Wow after looking at that PS (photoshopped) or not, it sure puts the iphone light years ahead in design.

it seems to me that the screen itself is misaligned and crooked and overlaps where the screen should be on the upper right corner. who knows, maybe it is real and Palm just lazily photoshopped themselves, but I still feel the photo is not an 'actual' photo of the devicel

So basically they copy the year old design of the T-Mobile Dash? So much for forward thinking.

Quick final reply! What ad revenue? "Commision" Based ads? Buy a Palm or Apple product and we make a few bucks. Find me the person who actually buys from clicking those darn ads and I will thank you and give you the three bucks!. Green Hex) I cannot nor can my source tell you anything more. This info comes from sales force meeting discussing the roadmap of all new devices and discontinued devices for the rest of the year. No one actually touched anything. I wish could tell you more, sorry. That pic makes everything your guess as good as mine. Unlike the BB 8830 we don't have one in hand, yet! Take care all!

LOL so in other words its a hockey puck.

If it has no mic than theyre saying we have to rely on our headsets...

wait Palm cant make a headset jack that doesnt fail nor can they master the art of programming a BT radio.

I have posted another photo. It is not blown up so you can blow it up yourself and judge. The actual screen is placed there but not by me. Go back and take a look at pre-release photo's of the 680. Palm did the same thing buy placing the 700p screen in the unfinished 680 window. What can I tell you, there you have it!

An archaic, decaying old wizard with limited powers.

Seems to fit Palm pretty well...

ugh, will you guys stop with the "fake" thing? Sheesh, you act like companies themselves do not use PS when they make roadmap images or that they don't do crappy work (I mean the 700wx advertised with threaded SMS for how long?)

No one here has the authority (or skill) to say if it is fake or not, all we can do is take in the information and try to corroborate it with other news that leaks out and see if it jives.

Palm is no doubt going to revamp their phone lineup. There is a lot of evidence now for an 800w (including the fact that MS made 320x320 res for a reason) so I would put this as plausible though not final.

No, it's completely implausible - for the reasons I've already given.
  17. #37
Companies do use mock-ups and "fake" concepts to quickly evaluate ideas for future products. This may be one of them.

I also don't see a new device with the "old" phone interface. The 680 phone interface is more likely.

What is also plausable is that the picture is of some initial prototype for a Treo that eventually led to the Treo series starting from the 600 onwards. Considering the buttons and all so old-fashioned (Z22?), it does look that way.

Three straight posts with the word "plausable". Now, there is a word that one does not see quiet that often.

It does have a square screen, and makes a lot more sense if you look at it this way. The thumboard will be tiny but I believe they are aiming at the regular cel consumer with this one. Think of it as the Zire model of the Treo.

I think that screen was also photoshopped onto a photo of a real device, they probably didn't get it taken with the screen on (or it didn't turn out well). I think the device is real.
