So for my birthday back in february i was going to get a 700wx. i posted a lot of stuff on the wx forum and provided some wallpapers and whatnot because i was so excited. turns out Sprint sucks and wouldn't let me get the phone unless i wanted to pay $680. thats just outrageous. i even argued with them that it says i have to make a new contract and that they force me on a new contract when you change your plan and i said that they are stupid because i want to add unlimited data to my plan, giving me a new contract, allowing me to get the phone for $300. anyways, i still don't have a treo.

i came back to this site today for some reason and saw that the 755p is available through sprint (for $100 less than the 700wx). now that i've come into some money from working a little and its summer now so i'll be working a lot, i have money. but i still don't want to spend $500 for a phone.

i'm wondering what ways i can get sprint to lower the price. i currently have a contract that is done in october. i have no problems with sprint other than this stupid pricing of phones. what can i do to add unlimited data to my plan (also how much does that cost?) and get the 755p for as low as possible. also, is it possible for me to change the plan for just one line on my current plan and for that new plan to be the sprint referral plan that has the unlimited data? because i'd be more leanient to paying $500 for the phone if they were giving me the $35 a month referral plan.

thanks guys. also, is it tree-o or trey-o?

Over at Palm.com I checked and you can get a 755p for 379.00 w/an existing contract.

well i need to add the unlimited evdo which is like $20 or something, and that would make the bill pretty high up there. any suggestions now that i know i can get the phone for less than $400?

sign a new contract..why don't you want to?
changing data options on verizon doesn't modify your contract. Its an add on like txt or pix messaging. I think sprints policy may be the same.
What about picking up a w instead?
    Cheaper than the wx.....

w is only on verizon. over here, verizon sucks, worst phone company ever, unless they drastically changed over the the past 4 years. wx is $100 more. and Sprint makes everything a new contract. my sister wanted txt messaging, so we added it (for her phone only) and they gave us all a new contract. yeah.

How old are you? $20 a month is pretty standard for data. Verizon & Cingular charge more. You type like you're about 16.

im 18 thank you very much. parents pay for the phone bill, mainly because its some outrageous family plan (thanks to my sister) where there is no way i could afford it. i'd gladly just give my dad the $15 - $20 each month. or i could just start my own plan there and get the SERO plan so im only paying $35.

That's how cell phone contracts work.

since ur workin now u can afford to pay ur own bills. get a plan seperate from ur family with the cheapest sero plan. if u have bad credit sprint will allow you to make a deposit on ur account that they refund to u in the form of a credit to ur account after a year of service. BAM new treo at a discount plus deposit equals the $500 u have and you'll get some of that back later. it doesn't get aby easier than that

I think its great to see younger people becomming new Treo owners. My own experience has been that most Treo owners I have seen are 30 somethings +.

The more new Treo users in the 18-30 demo is better for Palm and the future of the Treo.

If you leave your parent's plan, there's going to be a early termination fee of $150-200. This is how cell phone contracts work, you get a discount every 2 years, not every time you sign a new contract.

yeah i know, so instead of $500 it'd be $700. im thinking i might just stay on the plan, get the phone for $505 (i get $75 discount) and add unlimited data evdo and just pay my dad the difference each month, which would be like $20 or whatever. the only problem now is convincing the family to add another 2 years. our two years is up in october, i know my sister wants tmobile, but me and my mom have had no problems with sprint's service so the only reason to switch is for new phones.

and yeah, im 18, i had an m100 in 6th grade, thats what? when i was 12 i think? yeah my dad got one that was nicer, had 8MB of memory (ha ha thats so little now) and it was bigger bigger screen and all that and they made a color one of it but his wasn't, i forget the name of it. i liked his and thought it was awesome so with money from lawn cutting and birthday money i bought myself the m100 (i think it was like $100 or something). i loved that thing. it broke though. i've always wanted another palm, my dad has had some others, but i don't want to go buy one (i'd get the tx) for $200 and have an extra device when i could just upgrade my crap phone and get a palm at the same time. im really excited about this and i hope it end up working out.

also we are going to montana and other places out west this summer and my dad is looking into GPS for the car, well if i get this phone, just pay for the tomtom palm software (and get a cheap BT receiver) and there you have GPS. i can think of so many uses for this phone it is crazy and i hope something happens where i can get it.

have one line transfered into your sepererate account (transfer of financial responsibility) then after a few weeks/months go to retentions and strike a deal for a 755...otherwise suck it up.

i know this is very simplistic but if my 18yr old got up earlier and offered to help out more around the house I would not have a problem kicking in to help with his cell phone, or gas, clothes etc.

If I had an 18 year old still sitting around the house not doing anything, I'd kick him out. But then again, my parents taught me responsibility and independence. When I wanted a cell phone, I bought it myself and paid for the bill. I hope you can work it out. Treos are great fun and very useful. I personally think that you should be saving that $500 for college. But then again, most Americans would agree with you. Why else would our country and it's citizens be in so much government and personal debt.

    I'm 19, almost 20.
My dads paid my phone bill for years,
    but,
    I do work full time [40 hours/wk],
    and I do contribute.
    All of my plan add-ons,
    some of the plan itself,
    and anything else,
    I help pay for.

    It's called uhh...
    hm, whats that word.

    Oh yeah!
    Responsibility.

Exactly. I had a cell phone before my parents did. My first smartphone was a Moto MPX200. Switched to a Treo and never looked back.

whats with all the 18 year old bashing? i just turned 18, i graduate high school on saturday. what do you people expect of me? i can't work 40 hours a week and go to high school. i'd work weekend but my work made me go to seasonal and refuses to let me work until next week at the earliest.

and my parents pay for my phone for reasons i've already stated and because i do stuff around the house like ktm said.

and college is free because i got scholarships.

College is not free, even with scholarships.
