    Hey guys,

Ive got 2 different Pop accounts that Ive set up in Versamail. I pull them manually.

Im curious why technically POP3 accounts cant be pushed?

Ive never understood this and obviously Ive never had it explained to me properly.

    Just curious,

    Thanks!

Pop3 accounts can be pushed, apparantly.

    Interesting, thanks for the idea.
It seems based on the website that its for WinMob devices only. Ill do more checking on it to confirm.

I also meant to post that I know there's a workaround of creating an IMAP account and forward all my mail to the IMAP (for each of the 2 POP3's) and push from that IMAP.

I dont want to do that either.

Im curious about why technically it cant be done? (aside from your idea Musicman247 and thanks again for the idea)

    OK on their website's FAQ:

Is there a Palm version of 2Mobile?
No. At this time there is no Palm version

    Yeah, I saw that too.

It may just be something ingrained within the code of each client; Since POP3 defines the end user's PC as the repository for email, while IMAP considers the server the repository.

It's not really pushing, at least not from the POP3 server. It's a forwarding service. You can do the same for free.

IMAP supports connected modes. While POP3 is a disconnected service. Meaning that IMAP keeps the connection alive, POP3 logs in, downloads, and logs out.

So will IMAP use up more battery then say polling every 1/2 hour?

It depends on how often you get mail

I have been using snapper mail forever..
It is the best for pop mail..I set it for every 10 min or 20 minutes. I think that's fast enough for me. Also....Anybody that complains about the 680 should try a symbian nokia e62 . You will never complain about the treo again.. The symbian product has soooo much lag time on that nokia device..
