With all the complaining about the 755P on the Palm blog, I tried to post about how the only thing that counts at Palm is Colligans and Hawkins stock options. They take in $150,000 and $225,000 a week. This is all public information but apparently Palm wants to keep everyone in the dark about whats really going on there. They won't post any of these posts on the Palm Blog and this has happened several times already.

This is why Palm does not want to sell the company, if they did their personal ATM maching would be gone. They want to keep Palm afloat so they can continue to suck millions of $$ out of the stock price, and Hawkins said its a mystery as to why Palms stock is not performing?? Is he kidding?

This is normal practice for all executives with large holdings at any publicly held corporation. These transactions are regularly scheduled and continue until the shares in the divestment plan are depleted or the plan is cancelled and said cancellation is filed with Regulators. Other large sales may occur once or twice a year for portfolio balancing.

It is probable that your posts are not germane to the blog topic and may require additional review prior to posting. Further, nothing posts until after whatever level of review is required by Palm, and, since it is Friday, nothing will happen over the weekend. You may be overreacting.

From what I have seen and have been advised that only a few of the blogs have not been posted. One of them basically was posted on our forum but not posted on Palm's blog. I was skeptical at first and I am surprised as what Palm has allowed to be posted. What 80-85% of the blog post's are negative. It's true that a lot of us including me have been disgruntled 700p users who have made up Palm's base and yes we are disheartened. We want a device that can wow like the I-phone. How long will this take Palm to deliver? We have been less than delighted with the spec's of the 755 (even thought I probably will get one on Monday). I personally wanted GPS and at the least a "AD2P" from Palm rather than a 3rd party like Softick and their "Audio Gateway" They are in business because Palm has failed us in this point. Apple; up to now also has failed to deliver a BT Ipod (with the exception of the upcoming I-phone) They have had the technology but refused to give it to the users. So I had to buy the I-muffs and their adaptor, which does work with the 700p now. I am going to try to post this on the blog now too!

NewtonJack, your comment was not added to the blog because it wasn't relevant to the post. Also, you said "several times" this has occurred and I went back to look at the comments you have posted. I can only find one other occasion where your comment was not included. Just want to double-check to make sure I am not missing anything.

Also, Morningstar you referenced an instance where someone tried to post a comment to the Palm blog and ended up posting it to TreoCentral instead because it wasn't allowed. I assuming you are referring to this instance: http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh....php?p=1253889. If so, the situation was corrected.

Thanks for the comment/clarification/explanation. Your participation really helps the dialogue.

Gotta tell you Im more and more impressed with Palm's apparent increasing committment to communication and potential increase customer service.

yes Im a bit ambiguious but I guess its my backdoor way of a compliment.

Palm/Paul its all I can offer right now but keep it up and youll win more and more back.

What I think is interesting is the censorship applied to Palm employees while posting on the blog. It doesn't seem like we've actually heard from these people, almost like they have been given a script. I mean, so far we have gotten:

    • 5 product placement ads (Sling, 700wx vs 700p, Traffic apps, 755p, PocketTunes/Quiknews/Feedstation)

    • A comment on commments

    • 2 blogs just to say they are working on something without giving any details or reliable time frame (700p MR, Palm Desktop for Vista)
    • A call for Windows Mobile developers

    and

    National Bike to work week.

Wow. We are definitely getting front row seats to the internal workings at Palm, aren't we?

Ah, let them take baby steps. Before you know it, Paul L. will be neck and neck with Insertion for total number of posts on TC. But they (the Palm folks) have to get comfortable with their own blog and with being active on forums like this. Don't worry. It will come. They have Marc Blank, after all, inside Palm now. He can show them how it's done.

    Marc Blank = ?

Is he the dude from Apple that helped "invent" the GUI for the Ipod?

    If not who is he?

    Thanks!

Great. At least someone at Palm is listening. But time is running out for Palm.

I have a suggestion, why don't you creat a topic at the Palm Blog on whats wrong with palm today and welcome suggestions? You probably will get a few hundred posts.

When I first registered here at TC it took me forever to get to 25 posts. It's scary for a normal citizen with nothing to lose by looking stoopit.

For Paul, he's a representative of Palm and thus has the Sword of Damocles hanging over him. Ditto for the posters on the Palm blog. It's scary for them. "What if I f--- up? I'll lose my job, Palm's stock price will go in the dumper, the SEC will nail me to the wall with roofing nails, my dog will run away. . . ."

Plus we haven't exactly been nice, inviting, friendly, accomodating, cheerful people have we? I include myself in that, for which I am embarrassed.

Understood, but on many products there is a 1-800 phone number that says "comments of suggestions". Palm needs to start listening to customers.

I mean really, how many companies are out there that have customers/potential customers begging for new or improved products and posting so on blogs on a daily basis?

newtonjack, I agree with you. They have people who are their marketing focus group and technical beta testers, and we pay for the privilege. I think the payoff for dialogue between Palm and the user base would be huge. Treo users are only slightly more sane than Mac fanatics.

But who am I to talk? I'm only about to buy my 5th Treo in about 20 months (the 755p). Palm, Inc. probably doesnt give two poops about people like me.

    [Cue tiny violin].

EDIT: I know what will solve the problem. Harley-Davidson owners have tattoos, right? We all need to get Treo tattoos. Maybe then Palm, Inc. will show us the love.

If you want to see what stock traders and Palm investors have to say about Palm Mgmt look here but be warned the language is not so nice:

    http://blogs.sun.com/jonathan/entry/what_we_did

Sun's president blogs. People comment. Life goes on.

Now I suspect that Sun's president doesn't necessarily write all his own stuff. But he's out there, visible, and willing to take shots from people in the comments.

I hope Palm moves towards that model. Gah. As if. Free Treos for everyone when Ed Colligan starts blogging.

Appreciate everyone's feedback (here and on the blog). It's good to know where everyone shakes out. Just wanted to let you know that the blog will evolve over time and it's for everyone not one specific audience. I am not asking for anything, just trying to participate in the conversation.
