the 680 is downgrade not an upgrade. i actually thought about just to get a new treo, but the specs on it are horrible.

then there's the 700v, but who wants to be 1k for an imported and unlocked one?

That's true. No point getting a 680 when one has a 650. And guys, it's quite obvious what the thread starter is talking abt. And that he wants a GSM treo with 3G network, better camera and more memory in the likes of 755p, not the 680, hello.

The 680 is not a downgrade from the 650. It's not a monumental leap forward, but I have both and it is definitely a step up. What is a 700v???

I hope you don't have to wait as long as the time we have to wait until W is out of office!!!

Okay...that's what I thought he was trying to say, but he seems so confused about everything that I thought he imagined a new Treo...

I am also a 650 GSM owner looking for a replacement with 3G and more memory as a minimum.

This topic needs to be moved.

Before it does, Garnet (Palm) OS cannot do voice and data at the same time. Therefore it will not (until the kernal and network stack are rewritten) be able to do HSDPA/UMTS or EVDO Rev A or later tech that requires (its in the rules) voice and data.

The 680/750 are the latest GSM and the 755p the latest CDMA. Being that it's nearly the middle of May, I am doubting that we will hear about any new Palm's before fall. Though many would like to be surprised on that fact.

I had a Treo 650 and waiting for the 750 and 680 to be out for a couple of months before deciding. I love the Palm OS, but Windows Mobile is fancy and the Treo 750 does have 3G UMTS and a better camera!

I ended up sticking with the Treo 680. It is a MAJOR leap forward. There are those people who say it isn't, but it is the small things that make it a big upgrade! I sit here with 45MB free! My Treo 650 had about 3MB free, lagged, horrible browser cache settings, etc. etc. the treo 680 is a MAJOR upgrade for any Treo "abuser!" lol

Thank you! I wouldn't say "MAJOR", but definitely an upgrade and well worth it to me

I have to agree with those that were not impressed by the 680. Owned them both. What can the 680 do that the 650 can't? Ok, there is more storage and cache with the 680, but you can take care of that easily on a 650 with a Cache manager and a FAT32/SD card hack. No reason to fool around with the 680's 8 hour battery life when my 650 can go for two days. With the launch of the 755p for Sprint, I was wondering the same thing as Franknitty- Will there be a Palm OS GSM with 3G anytime soon. No need to bash him!

The 755 has more memory? Yes, 3G would be nice but Palm has repeatedly said it's not possible.

Camera is crap, 640 or 1280.

EDIT: Odd, didn't know the 700p had 128M.. However, I still have 32m free on my 680 and I have a lot of programs. Plenty for me.

Edit 2: Um.. The 680 has 60M of user-accessible ram, and so does the 700 and 755. Again, I don't see what you mean here.

The Palm website says 64M for the 680 and 128m for the 700/755, but unless I'm missing something, they both only have about 60M for the user.
