Can anyone tell me if the the new 750 and 680 have a stereo connection on the 2.5mm plug. I have the 700p and it is only mono. This is very annoying on such an expensive phone. I hope that the new phones specifically the 755p will have a stereo connection. Thank you in advance.

The 700p, the 680 and the 755p have stereo headset jacks.

But you have to use a specific headset for it to play both R and L channels.

    Edit: Check the specs page:

You might be using an adapter that won't work for stereo. Use the one from the TreoCentral store. The black with short wire on it.

The 700P's 2.5mm jack is stereo its just that their implementation is a bit strange. You need a special 2.5 to 3.5 adapter. You can get one at Radio Shack but it's straight and can cause torque issues (break your jack). For more info http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...d.php?t=128875

The adapter from Radio Shack won't work. I tried every one that they had, and each one produced only 'mono' sound from my headphones. Got the adapter in the TC store, and it works perfectly.

shepard, I purchased 3 from the tc store that are the seido 2.5-3.5 adapters. They Rock! I use one in the car, one for the headset and one for the home tuner. I can play ptunes anytime anywhere.

I have both. The Radio Shack ones do work but you have to get the right one (they sell 2 kinds in the store) You need a the stereo version. That being said I would recommend against the RS one because of the aforementioned torque issue. The RS adapter is huge (relatively speaking) and would probably damage your Treo if dropped or twisted. So the moral of the story is go buy the Seidio adapter on TC!

Why mess around with some clunky adapter - use one of the Palm stereo dual ear bud headsets! I have both of them (the standard and the more advanced one with noise cancellation) and they're both excellent. No adatpers to mess with - none of that, and they both work as PHONE as well. Answer/end, etc, right from the ear bud wire. And the more-advanced one has a mute/vol up/down gig going also.

I do have a Radio Shack adapter I use on airplanes for my 700wx with my Shure music-only headset, but for everyday use, when I need to be able to make and take calls as well as music, roll with one of the Palm ones. They're great.

I have the adapter so I can plug my Treo directly into a sound system to play music files over the system. I work a lot with music, and it's so convenient to rip a CD into MP3 format, stick it on my Treo, and go to a place instead of looking for the CD, or making sure they have a CD player around. Plus it has a certain cool factor to plug your phone right into their sound system and start playing songs.
