I apologize if this has been asked before, I took a look through the search tool, but didn't find what I was looking for.

I regularly sync my Cingular Treo650 with my Palm desktop, and have successfully restored from the desktop in the past after zeroing the phone.

The 650 died :/ and I'm looking to get a 680 to replace it. Will I able to sync the desktop data (apps, text messages, phone numbers not in SIMM card etc), to the new 680, or will that not work?

    Thanks much.

The Cingular 650 was three years old, and had its ROM updated once by me.

You could do it, but I wouldn't suggest it. Install the 680 CD over the 650 desktop if you want. But, from there I would suggest doing a Clean Install of your PIM data and only the most recent versions of the apps you want.

The instructions for a Clean Install can be found in the sticky at the top of the 650 section of the forum...
