    I can't seem to get on the chatteremail website... is it down? Is anyone else having that problem?

    I don't think chatteremail.com is just down. It's gone. The domain doesn't even resolve.

    Chatteremail author/owner Mark Blank was hired by Palm earlier this month, and announced that he would no longer develop Chatteremail.

    The disappearance of the web site strikes me as rather abrupt, though. I would think he'd want to keep it live for a while if only to inform visitors that it's over.

    so what does this mean for chatteremail people? I guess its not that big of a deal that I'm out 19 bucks, but I think there'd still be some sort of notice. hmm

    I'm going to guess that it's a DNS problem. This has happened a few times. I don't have the IP to test this theory though. I could be wrong but even though Marc has quit developing it, the support has still been superb. I'd be willing to bet that's it's back online tomorrow. BTW, you're not out $19 bucks. Chatter is still the best email solution around and should still work for quite some time.

    Maybe that is part of the deal with Palm...perhaps versamail is on the way out and Chatter is in. (Or the new versamail will be chatter badged as versamail)

    I use the chatteremail.com service for my imap account.

    My yahoo mail is forwarded there. i just realized I have 7 hours of missing emails.

    I am NOT happy about this.

    My yahoo emails were forwarded to my (me)@chatteremail.com address but are not there and are not bounced back. My email account is online...just no mail.

    NOT HAPPY!!!

    you can still get your email through yahoo or gmail...you just wont get emails through chatter on your treo for a while.. i'm not particularly thrilled either, but its not a disaster...

    a universal email to all chatter customers would have been nice though, but Marc has been top notch since I started using chatter two years ago...it happens...congrats to marc for his big move...palm can use someone like him

    properly configured email systems should be able to cope with an end point disappearing for a few hours or even a day or two. Your mail should have no trouble coming through. ... and the site is back up too.

    They _should_ bounce back after a few hours.. Most mail servers resend on increasingly longer delays if the mails don't get delivered. Let it sit a day or so. There's not much the end point (chatteremail.com) can do except get the mail program back up and wait for the email to start coming back in.

    I just got an email from support.

    My emails are unrecoverable.

    I am not happy about this. I left fusemail because the service looked comparable and I wanted to support Marc but will be going back to fusemail.
