While out at lunch I was walking east on 50th St., and I noticed a Palm Store is opening on 50th close to 6th Ave. I'm anxious to see what's going to be in there. I guess Palm didn't want to shell out the money to build a glass cube like the Apple store on 5th Ave.

Looks like they're flush with cash and wanted to have a presence in the big apple. Is it under construction? Boarded up? Being retrofitted?

The store is being retrofitted from an empty space along the rows of shops across the street from Radio City Music Hall. I'll walk by tomorrow to find out if there's an opening date.

Are you kidding? It's probably MUCH MUCH more. I'll bet the monthly rent is in the tens of thousands. This is Manhattan, island of the rich.

$3,000 is NOT = to tens of thousands. And no, it's not $50/sf MUCH more.

Here is a memo from the NY Real Estate Board from last spring about rental rates in an area nearby the new Palm store-not the exact location, but an idea of what rent is on a ground floor retail space in Manhattan.

Plus it's located in Rockefeller Center, which ups the rent even more.

    glenada,

Is the store actually open yet? I have to travel to NYC on Nov 14-17th and would LOVE to see the store. We have an office on 33 Maiden Lane right next to the Federal Reserve. Let me know. TIA!!!
    Thank You,
