So exciting how zippy this pda is now. It also crashes less often, and gives me fewer problems overall.

Essentially, what I did is get rid of all the legacy files that I've been moving from Palm to Palm, every time I upgraded.

Here are the steps I took:

    - Hot synced
    - Backed up using Backup Buddy
    - HARD RESET
    - Found the folder on my computer labeled "backup" and renamed it "old backup"
    - Hot synced

Now I had a pristine Treo. Only my data (calendar, to do, etc) was left.

There were some programs that I just had to reinstall right away--Audible, Versa Mail, etc. That took me about 30 minutes. If I forgot to reinstall something and didn't realize it till I was on the road, I could usually fetch it from Backup Buddy.

The important thing is that most of the crap that has been stuck in there over the years is now gone. My Treo is so much speedier than I ever expected it could be.

This Treo enema isn't for everybody. You have to be a long-time user of Palm to have so much junk on your device and you have to be willing to commit time to do it. For me, the increased speed in day-to-day use was worth it.

Data really flies right through it now?

Yeah, that's generally the recommended way to upgrade when you change palms. Perry had a thread here about that. When I changed from my 650 to 700 I did that. Definately a good idea to avoid possible glitches etc separate from just helping to run faster. Legacy apps and settings can be one reason for some mysterious resets, etc.

So fast. I thought my T700p was the slowest Palm I ever had. Now it flies.

The best part is how fast Blazer loads up.

Also, I used to have problems with Audible jumping when my screen was off. That's GONE now!

Yeah, that's generally the recommended way to upgrade when you change palms.
    the reason for this...

some built-in/3rd party apps from previous device are also being transferred (specially if you are using the same username). those built-in & other apps are being stored in the backup folder. so if you a sync w/ prev username, those apps are also being transferred. in line to this, those SW could create conflict on the new device.

so doing a sync w/ diff device w/ same username - rename backup folder 1st.

Moving an OS / propgrams from one piece of hardware to another is always a compromise.
