In person it does not stand out too much... and the paint is really easy to apply. I am terrible at painting but this stuff makes it easy.

    OK, here's what I think:

It is really alot better for you to NOT paint your Treo case.
    Points are:

*The back side is totally fine. Go ahead and spray paint it like I said. Thats not a problem.
    *the front is a B****
    * the glossy inner plate is too glossy for paint to adhere to. It WILL flake off.
*as for the rest of the front, paint will stick somewhat but if you over spray or layer on clear (which you should) the key pad holes get too small.
    * do not paint the sim card holder. These microscopic fractions of millimeters will make the holder JAM in there and will not come out without some force. I have a broken SIM holder which I'm trying to fix with Super glue (oh well, its all in the name of. Sci..er..whatever)

Anyone want to donate a case they'r not using?

Ditto that. I just put some colored skins from Ebay on my 650 and I can change them when ever I like and it does not affect my warranty.

You need to either mask off the chrome inner plate or sand off the chrome finish. As for the keyholes, I did not clearcoat my Treo... it was 2 base coats and two top color coats... and the coats were thin in the keypad area.

As for the SIM slot, I cut my own out from a CDMA case... I did have problems the first paint, but the second time I just cut the slot bigger. I also removed the bezel and mirror for the camera and the button for the battery door and painted those separately.

It is definitly a PITA.... but the outcome is definitly worth it.

    ^^

so for normal folks, they should just stick with 3gupload stickers.

I am thinking of making plastic cases as a replacment. I'll try to strike a deal with a plastic factory.

If it was in demand I would. Please vote in my thread in the accessories forum.

has anyone tried using this plasti-dip spray?

that stuff (dip type) goes on way too thick. I use the spray on version for rubberizing the side grips.

Does not last forever... maybe 3-6 months with heavy use and it starts to peel off.

I bought an Envy/Carbon iPod Nano from Colorware, they're amazing, the color matches my laptop perfectly. They use an automotive metallic paint.

Try the Kustom Kolors from WalMart... that stuff goes on real easy and looks awesome. Krylon is more generic and not so good on plastic.
