Hi - I have a protected system prc that I need to overwrite.
It is btmanager.prc. I have an equivalent file of a slightly
different name on my i/o card that I need to install and overlay
on top of the btmanager.prc file.

How can I do this? Yes, I understand the risks. Thanks ahead.

BtManager is a ROM file. If you install a file of the same name (and creator ID, file type, etc) into RAM, the RAM file will take precedence.

If it's a system .prc in ROM you will need to create a custom ROM with the changes you want. Search for the ROM Tool thread and all instructions would be there.

No, that's not necessary; if all you want to do is overlay an existing ROM prc, just install the new copy into RAM.

I can't say for this particular app, but in some cases if you simply overaly in RAM, they don't always play well together. Especially, if it's the same file name and different versions.

POS always (as far as I can determin) looks in RAM before ROM, so if the files are the EXACT SAME internal name, the OS won't even look for the ROM file once it finds the one in RAM.

But smccacraft wants to use a file with "a slightly different name." If POS is looking for a file named btmanager.prc, I don't see how it's ever going to find one with a different name.

I think what you need to do is give your new file the exact same name, and then you can just load it into RAM.

I'm out of my mind. But feel free to leave a message.
