    Not true. I've purchased a pre-production phone from a Sprint tester before. It activated quickly and easily by just dialing *2 and going through the normal process. All of the ESNs of the pre-production units are entered into their system so that they can be field tested.

    Typically pre-production ESN won't be shifted from the internal provisioning system db to the main/public system until after product launches. I don't doubt the validity of the model or even running on the network, just seems strange that it was able to be set up in the manner Merlyn described. I've not heard of that before...

    that was a joke where someone was proving how easy that was to fake in an effort to disprove the OP claim. The OP had a screenshot earlier with 700p listed and the 900p was to draw an obviously fake contrast but has been proven false. The 700p is genuine.
