As most of you may know the lastest Sprint Treo 650 ROM update 1.30a came with a new yellow Sprint splash logo. I don't know if this has been discussed before, but I have a feeling that this logo was taken from the Treo 700p.
I don't see a reason why Sprint would create this logo if they were not thinking about releasing a new Palm OS Treo. The reason why we are seeing this logo now is because Palm is close to releasing the Treo 700p.

Um.....all the Treo 650's with the new logo right above the screen came with SW 1.12a and the splash screen in the software had the same new logo.

Yeah, but they also changed their logo over to yellow after merging with Nextel. I'd love to think you're correct though. I'm really impatient myself.
HP has officially ruined it's own platform and kicked webOS loyalists and early TouchPad adopters to the curb. You think after you drop it like a hot potato and mention it made no money and is costing you money, anyone else wants it??? Way to go HP!!

And some people are fools to keep believing their hype. HP has shown they will throw webOS under the bus and people are still having faith in them??? News flash: if it's own company won't stand behind it, it's finished!

The new yellow logo was out a long time ago. Way before the 700. It coincided with sprint's acquisition of nextel. It's their new fresh look.

Yeah. It's so fresh you can see the logo in the dark without any additional lighting.

I know, but my point is that they are incorporating this new splash logo in an old Treo. In other words why would they spend the time to change cosmetics on an old device? (I'm talking about the .prc file) What happened here is that Sprint sent their new logo to Palm to be included in the Treo 700p, and decided to add it to the ROM update for the Treo 650.

I did the update and my software shows Treo650-1.13a-SPNT. However, I have the same old red and white SPrint logo I have always had.

That isn't the latest firmware. 1.30a is.

    We're talking about SPRINT!!!!!!!!

I understand your point, but I wouldn't exactly bet the farm on it. Remember though there still selling 650's that would require the new logo before sale. Sprint is not letting any old logo's out the door on 650's. So it may and may not have anything to do with a 700P.

ANY phone with a firmware update recently has that new logo. They're not coming out with new versions of the PM8200, but updated ones have the logo. LG 325's, Sanyo 7400's, etc.

I want a new Treo too, but please. Calm down. We worry about you.
Go here if you're tired of being .
    It'll be fun.

After spending time in a corporation involved in an acquisition of another, the marketing department can't wait to bastardize every place a logo can appear with its new branding so that it can send out the new "corporate identity" at every opportunity. Issues concerning allocation of funds for the upcoming changes as well as ego.

Why would they spend the time doing this new firmware update for the 650 if they want you to buy a new 700p in a few months? They are still updating the firmware for it for other companies. I've given up on a new palm os version before the fall. Likely 700w all around. I hope I'm wrong but as far as I can tell, there's a lot of hallucinogens being used here seeing the "signs" showing anything otherwise.

Chief Running Windows just smoked a fat Treo 700Peace pipe and claims it will not be out for many more moons.

Are you sure you want it Perry? If the connected rumor about the big firmware upgrade being shared with the 700P, it means yellow splash screen but no EVDO.
ROOTING for WebOS makes me more sympathetic to Cubs fans.

Now that we are into the Treo 800p hype maybe this Yellow Splash Logo came from the Treo 800p. More rumors are confirming my theory.

    Hey Bob!

I have the Yellow Splash Screen now with 1.13A!!

Or did you mean, "Am I sure I want a Treo 700P?"

If it has EV-DO --- ABSOLUTELY!

If it doesn't -------ABSOLUTELY NOT! (Palm will have recreated the Edsel.)
