I built a new computer, and had to format my hard drives to fit into the new array. I never bothered to back up my Palm profile because I thought I could just sync my phone again with the software, and it would put everything back.

Thing is, the sync operation would start (and add my profile name to Palm Desktop) but once it gets to syncing "contacts", things slow to a crawl and hours later, they're still trying to sync contacts (no error messages or anything).

Am I supposed to do something before syncing my Treo to a new install of Palm Desktop?

I doubt I'm the only person to come across this issue but searching the forums didnít come up with anything useful.

Try using dbScan to remove deleted records from the databases.

    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/utilities.htm

Launch dbScan, select Neither. Go to menu and select "Remove all Deleted Records".

At the minimum, you could try disabling the Contacts conduit in Hotsync and see if the rest of the process goes through.
