yes but it means they won't expand wimax coverage and 'they promised' ...so those with little or no mimax coverage today won't see an improvement. Sounds like the webOS 2.0 dilema.

Didn't take that long on mine, only about 5 minutes on WiFi.

Just tell me you didn't download it over 4G.

Yes, that would explain it. I'm home and am almost always on WiFi here.

Before I posted here I wanted to go to the Sprint website and see what Sprint had to say about TelNav.

The Sprint website states that they now feature TeleNav GPS Navigator. A link is given to the TelNav site for a list of phones that for a number of Sprint phones including:

Palm - 9 devices
  • Palm Pre
  • Palm Pixie
  • Treo Pro
  • Palm Centro
  • Treo 700p
  • Treo 755p
  • Treo 650
  • Treo 700
  • Treo 800w
If anyone has information that the Pre will not have TelNav, would you share that link?

Took 2 minutes to download and install on wifi. So far I have only used google navigation because it was so much better. I'll give sprints new version a shot just to check it out.

Hold on, I am not backing you up and I am not speaking to the validity of your thread information.

We are being told that there is another source with contradictory information. I found the links on sprint.com and telnav.com saying that the Pre will have TelNav.

I am trying to find the links saying that the Pre will not get TelNav.

If TelNav is in fact just for Android, this should be in the Cross-Platform Chat.

It may just not be ready, as far as updates go, for other phones, yet.

not to get off topic or make false assumptions (or is it presumptions?)
but does this update/name change mean they're planning to charge extra in near future for navigation even w/ the everything plan?
Like their $10 extra charge for smartphones (i think the jury is still out on that)

Been playing around with it and it is my new favorite navigation application. Can not believe the cool features it has.

This was a pretty big update which added a lot of features similar to a Garmin... looks really nice.

You can upgrade the new navigation app for even more features for a monthly fee. Looks pretty good as it is right now though for me.

And for me on my Evo I could not get it to download on 3g, it would keep saying "server error" on wi-fi just took a min. or so.

Anybody able to download the Televav update on their Pre?

If so, does it have the voice search capability?

The only updates for the Pre come with WebOS upgrades.

Well, going to the Sprint link via Telenav, it looks like the version that is available for the Pre is 2.1 which is two versions older than the current one and voice search, among other things, is not supported.

just a little more info on this same issue that the OP saw a "list" when the device was not detected:

The below linked site tells you to go to a web address on your device to do OTA (Over The Air) update:
Install TeleNav GPS Navigator on Sprint Supported Devices

The address for the OTA update on the page is "http ota.telenav.com/ota/sn"
if you go there in your web browser it does indeed have a palm option -- but the Pre isn't on that list and it refers "other" phones to customer care.
