Just updated Universal Novacom Installer to v1.2 with full webOS 3.x support
![]() Edit: Another update v1.2.1 - July 2, 2011 - Updated to fix a bug where reinstall attempts on Windows could fail if novacom.exe was missing

I also cannot get this to install on a Mac. It hasn't since 2.0. I recently bought a brand new machine so it isn;t that.
It's a pain in the ***, as it won't recognise the phone in iphoto etc, and there doesn't appear to be a solution. |

No luck at this office's Windows 7: UniversalNovacomInstaller detects it as "Windows 64 bit", and then downloads and starts the driver setup. But, while it finishes successfully, the "novacomd" service isn't created, and I can't find any file named "novacom" in the whole system.
I fear the current user, which doesn't have administrator rights, is to blame... Could anyone confirm? Last edited by jcmarcos; 08/04/2011 at 04:26 AM. |

Hello, I'm having a weird behavior with systeminfo.exe (windows xp). When it's called by the installer itself there is no output and after a couple of seconds it fails with this errors:
From novacomInstaller.exe.log Code:
Traceback (most recent call last): File "novacomInstaller.py", line 31, in <module> File "novacomInstaller.py", line 17, in download_novacom_installer KeyError: 'System Type' Any idea? Thanks and regards, Leo |

Hello everybody,
It's a while I try to solve the novacom issue I have, in order to be able to run WebOS QuickInstall. The situation is as follows: I have an PowerBook G4, OSX Leopard I run on this machine Virtual PC, Windows XP SP3 On OSX, it's impossible to install Java 1.6 - the PPC processor and lack of support for this from Apple. On Virtual PC, I already have installed Java 1.6 and Quickinstall but, it didn't recognize my device - Pixi - because novacom could not be installed (there is an error announcing that installation failed). If there's any solution for this please be so kind and let me know about it. Thanks |

sounds like an issue with Java not being up to date or the jar files not being opened with the JVM

Jason - would it be possible to get a the name of the .pkg file that the downloader downloads on OS X? The installer does not work (operation fails at the end) but I suspect we can manually install the files, if we look inside the .pkg and if you could tell us where the files go.

I am also having issues installing.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit. This is the same issue whether I am using WebOS Quickinstall or else this universal installer. I launch them and they download the drivers, but then I receive a notification after it has attempted installation that the service was removed, and then it closes. Novacomd.exe is not installed in the stated folder. I do not know what else to do. |

I was having heaps of issues getting the Novacom drivers installed for WebOS QuickInstall to recognize my touchpad, including a simple "Driver installation failed" error. I finally stumbled across a link this morning to the latest novacom driver msi executables (ie no automated download). Found on HP Touchpad - RootzWiki
Worked for my Touchpad on Windows 7-64 and Vista-32, here are the links. Just extract with WinRar or whatever: Windows-x32: http://palm.cdnetworks.net/opensourc...com-win-32.tgz Windows-x64: http://palm.cdnetworks.net/opensourc...com-win-64.tgz |

I cannot find the folder where the Novacom drivers have been installed, although I have installed successfully three times now, anyone know where they are in Mac OS X 10.7.2?
