i'm new to this too, but i'm getting the following errors:

when i go to Tools -> Tweaks, i get this message

clicking through, i eventually get this error (twice)

the Tweaks window comes up, so i went to the Online Repository tab to install the Emergency Patch Recovery patch. but upon doing that i get this error

again, i'm new to the WebOS Quick Install application, so i've never had any of this working before. i've installed a few homebrew apps on my pre, but i've never rooted it.

    thanks for your help.

make sure you dont skip this step

    Novacom

    * You can manually install Novacom by going in WebOSQuickInstall and in the menu File->Options, then press the "Attempt Novacom (re)installation" button.
    * If you have issues and you're on Windows, try following these instructions (even if you aren't on Windows 7).
    * For Linux, try downloading the Novacom file here.

    No. ;-)
This is because I did not understand the DevMode thing.

I don't know how to install it in openSUSE, so I let it be and tried Windows instead. There installation seemed to work, also for novacomd (it appears at the control panel as installed).

    • DevMode enabled
      • This can be done by typing "upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart", opening the DeveloperMode app, and enabling the feature.
What does that mean? I have no idea where and how to do this.

I guess I need some help because of the 'no device detected' error.

    Thanks
    Alex

Jason, just checking in to see if anyone has developed a sure fire way to use Home Brew. I've tried every possible connection suggested and it worked once but cannot replicate the process. Thanks for continuing the dialog. I await a solution to download apps to my pre. Craig

    Thanks
That damn Canuck Software technical writing staff is filled with slackers...

oh wait... Jason IS the WHOLE staff!!!

Give him some time, and I am certain it will all get updated once he finishes his hot-fixes.
