app dev request: more icons for launcher ribbon

On my iphone I can get an app to increase the number of icons in the launcher ribbon (dock) from 4 to 5 - and that is on a tiny display in portrait mode. I'd love to see an app for the touchpad that showed maybe 6 icons in portrait and 8 or 9 in landscape. That would be ideal, but even a static increase would be great, and seems like it should (?) be simple.
