Support thread for SimpleClock for the Touchpad

love it! Just one minor issue: when I dim the screen brightness, the alarm settings are unaffected. So the rest of the screen is perfect, but the alarm settings are glaring at me.

The rest of the screen was just text and images so it was easy to dim. The alarm section is a bit more difficult and I thought it was dim enough already.

I'll see what I can do.

My clock shows it's 12:59 am when it's 12:59 pm. I tried switching it to 24 hour format, same as device, 12 hour format and back, I rebooted the Pad and it's still showing AM when the time is PM.

Thank you for noticing this. Internally the clock is still dealing with time correctly as evidence by it showing the correct time in 24hour format (midnight in 24hour format is 00:00), so alarms will work correctly.

Internally time is dealt with in 24hour format; ie 1pm = 13:00, 2pm = 14:00. The problem with the clock right now is that it's switching to pm for hours greater than 12, instead of greater than or equals to 12.

There's already another update (1.1.1) going through the app review process right now, so the fix for this will be in the update after that (1.1.2).

SimpleClock v1.1.2 is now available in the App Catalog

- Option to display a big Dismiss Button instead of a Snooze Button.
- Dashboard display of active alarms when the app is not active.
- [Bug Fixed] 12pm will no longer be displayed as 12am.

There's been a few users who have asked for an option to set a default volume for the alarms (so you don't have to remember to turn up the device volume before going to bed). Unfortunately, there's no way for a 3rd party app to change the system volume. It's a limitation of the webOS api from the very beginning.

However, if you mute the Touchpad (and the volume is not turned down), the alarms will still play.

One other question, how do I keep the display with the digital time and weather? After a few minutes it converts to a simple dial clock with no alarm, weather or digital time. It's just a plain screen with a traditional analog clock graphic. Thank you!

SimpleClock doesn't have an analog clock. What you're seeing is the stock clock app of the Touchpad. From your description, it sounds like you started the app then put it on the Touchstone dock. When the TP switches to exhibition mode after a few minutes, it shows the default exhibition mode app, which is the stock clock.

What you need to do is, after the TP switches the exhibition mode, tap the app name at the top left to open a menu. From that menu, you can select which app you want displayed in exhibition mode. If you don't see SimpleClock in that menu, then you need to enable it in the Exhibition app in the settings page of the app launcher.

You don't need to have SimpleClock running for it to work in exhibition mode. Also to trigger exhibition quickly, put the TP on the touchstone and press the on/off button of the TP.

That is exactly what I was doing, was putting it on the Touchstone.

It took me a few tries until "Exhibition mode" kicked in and I looked for that app and figured it out. This is my first tablet, so sorry for the stupidity.

It's now working perfectly. Thank you for taking your time to explain to me exactly what to do.

Why is this app free? I would have paid for it. It's that awesome!

It's not free, it's US$1.50, unless HP is running a promotion that I don't know about. Are you sure you didn't for it? If you've previously paid for an app, but then deleted it, the app will show up in the catalog as free.

It's to stop the Touchpad from turning off when its not on a Touchstone.

I was going to request the same functionality. Thanks for the mute tip. That works nicely but I guess there is still a risk. Would it be possible to have a warning displayed on the main clock screen if an alarm is active and the volume is turned off or very low?

Unfortunately, there's no way for an app to even find out what the system volume is.

Yes, there's an option in preferences. Tap the app name in the top left to open the app menu.
You can only access preferences while in normal app mode, not exhibition mode.
