Look at it this way, would you expect a game include both an Xbox version and a PC version for the price of one version? Those two versions of a game will probably share more code than Squeeze Control and Squeeze Control XL. I wouldn't have minded having an upgrade price for existing users for either app, but the App Catalog does not provide any mechanism for doing that. -- Sent from my HP TouchPad using Communities

I understand they are are seperate apps. And indeed I would have liked an update/crossgrade discount. But as you said HP does not support that. If only they had promo codes for a few dollars off...
I'll probably buy in it anyway in the end. But currently I cannot download anything from the app catalog on my Pre 3 ???

I think they added carrier billing for apps for some carriers. Maybe that's why the phone radio needs to be on for app purchases, so it can figure out if it can bill to your carrier or not.

I've submitted my software Squeezebox player app (Squeeze Player) to the App Catalog. If you don't want to wait for it to be approved, you can get it here:

Can't get Control to connect. Seem to for a while but now it just says no players connected. Using Squeezebox Touch, Media Server 7.7.1. When it did work it only worked for Internet Radio, it never worked with my music collection through Media Server.
Thanks in advance, happy holidays. |

Make sure the Wifi on your phone is turned on and connected to a correct access point. Are your players connected to your server. By default, Squeezebox players are setup to connect to MySqueezebox.com. Have you tried accessing the web browser based controls of LMS? If so, can the server see the players?

To any users of Squeeze Control who have moved on to Android devices, there is now a version for Android in Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ndroid.sqzctrl It is available for all devices using Android 4.0+ with screen sizes up to 7". Before there's no way to have any sort of cross platform upgrade price, Google Play doesn't even support promo codes.

Short version: The Android version has basically everything the webOS phone version has with server discovery and much better multi server support, all running with the smoothness of a native Android app. Long version: - much faster and smoother, this alone is worth the money if you use it a lot. - multi-server support. - song downloading. - better interface for controlling/syncing multiple players. - can stay connected in the background with mini controls in the notification area. - ability to filter the artist/album/song/genre lists - the same jump list capability from the XL version for the Touchpad but much faster. - customizable backgrounds per player. - And overall just a better UI design.

Squeeze Control is set to be compatible with every webOS device except for the Touchpad, with a minimum OS requirement of 1.4.5, so it should be available for the Veer. However, it is a paid app so you will have to be in a country where you can purchase apps from the catalog.

Hello,
thanks for your quick answer. I am from germany. I had a deeper look onto the apps I can install. I saw that there are no apps to buy for me. Do you have an Idea why i can' t buy apps? With my older Palm Pre i could buy apps... Thank you again. Edit: I reset the phone, now i can see and install the apps. Thanks for your help! Last edited by tisse; 12/30/2012 at 03:25 AM. |
