    I am using CM7.

    The TP does turn off. However, I need to hold the power button and the home button for it to even want to turn on...

    This is a known issue to which there are fixes for this at the rootzwiki forum for CM7. Honestly, Id rather clear the cache data through CWM and upgrade to the current build of CM9.
    Try diplomacy first. You can always conquer them later...
