Does ICS have the same email client as HC or is it any better? Anyone willing to post some screens?

What about the calendar app? How does it compare to the one in webOS?

I think its great too. Just as good as the client in webOS. Its not as pretty as the one on the Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 but works fine. I use the gmail app primarily as the default client doesn't have conversation view. The Calendar app is better than webOS.

Any chance for some screenshots? By the way I do not use gMail so I am looking for the normal eMail client and Calendar screens.

The default client is great too. As I said no conversation view. Unfortunately i just sent my touchpad back to get the cracks fixed so can't post a screenshot. Why not just install it, it isn't that difficult.

I have CM7 working exactly how I want it....other than the CRAPPY mail and calendar client and don't want to mess that up going to CM9, deciding there are too many bugs and then trying to revert....especially not knowing if the mail and calendar clients are good enough to make me stay in CM9 any more than CM7.

Use Clockwork mod and do a backup of your CM7. if you don't like CM9 you can easily go back to your CM7 using restore and it will be as if you never installed CM9. Clockwork mod is one of the great things i like about android. Back-up is basically an image of your android system. Its pretty hard to go wrong, its easier than you think.

I am not interested in installing CM9 until I know there is an email and calendar app that would actually make me want to use it.

Can some please post some screens.

The Email app crashes every time I try to open it, using the gmail app is fine. The calendar app is missing though.

**Update** Fixed the Calendar and Email app failures and my video app issues and search bar. 4 down, 196 more to go

Here ya go. A bit redacted but you should get the idea.

The email client is much better than cm7, I don't use calendars so I can't speak for that.

THANKS! So it appears that the email client is a 2 Pane version closer to WebOS's 3 pane mail client and the calendar has a pretty good week view. These do look a lot more useful than the Android 2.x version.

Which email app? The default one with CM9 Alpha 2 is broken.

It's not broken, it just needs all the caches cleared out BEFORE you try and setup an account.

Getting the email client to work:

    1. Delete the Exchange account from Settings->Accounts & Sync
    2. Go into Settings->Apps->All->Email and "Clear Data" (you may also want to do this in the Calendar and Contacts apps if you were syncing those)
    3. Reboot into Recovery
    4. Clear cache partition and Dalvik cache (in the Advanced menu)
    5. Reboot into CM9
    6. Setup the Exchange account again

I did all that. I still get 'app isn't installed' when I try and start the email app.

Its working fine for me but that error Ive seen every time Ive upgraded a CM build on my device and resolved with a hard reset. Go into clockwork mod and do a hard reset, this will not touch the webOS data just android.

Fixed. What I did was to delete the icon from the desktop. Then when I started the email from the list of apps, it all started OK.

So, I guess a pointer or link was corrupted somewhere. How can I check this if it happens again?
