Touchdroid --Android for the HP Touchpad

Looks like the touchpad community now has an official development team working towards porting Android gingerbread (and later on ice cream sandwich) to our favorite $99 tablet!!!

I love webos (currently still using a pixi plus and will get a veer) but the future of the touchpad appears to be Android. Webos wont get many apps developed for it and if we could get the hundreds of thousands of Android apps like Netflix and document editing that would make the Touchpad perfect

Awesome! If I ever get a TouchPad it will be nice to see some longevity for it! Maybe Cyanogenmod support?

Yeah, $100 for HP Touchpad 1.2 ghz tablet, or $100 for a Chinese-made resistive screen tablet with no community support?

    It's good to have options.
I'm keeping the Ubuntu option open should webOS truly be dead. For now, however, I have hope that something is brewing we don't know about (my hopeless optimism showing) and that a slew of new users will become hooked on the best mobile OS out there.
... I'm talking about webOS, you mook.

I'll be all over this if I can dual boot. I like WebOS a lot (and I've only had it for a day), and Android has always left me a little cold. But no doubt, the apps will be better going forward on a Honeycomb tablet. I don't want to wipe WebOS, but if I could dual boot, that'd be pretty sweet.

Think about it the Touchpad could become the HD2 of Tablets.

As a Android/webOS (Evo/TP) user, I am interested to see how it will work on the TP. But Android has a loooong way to go before I love it like I love webOS. Not to mention the huge majority of ppl will just use webOS because its gonna be complicated to port android over. I predict it will be a very small percentage of "Droidpads" than some may think. Maybe I'm wrong.

    I hope it fails miserably.

Great. Now all the Android-fans will try to buy a Touchpad as well and leave none for the true webOS fans... Dislike.

To be fair "true" webos fans most likely got thier product on launch day.

Im still confused how this news is bad. Hell Gingerbread while not being a tablet os can do more than the touchpad currently can.

Still think the Go would be a better fit for this.

I hope it they succeed in doing this they let android run in a card or dual boot. Not wipe Webos. People need to see webos and see what they has been missing all these years. I bet if Webos is the main OS some will boot android and other wouldn't really care.
