What do they have to **say** about this? They probably hate it.

I would doubt they have any kind of patent case simply because it's so obvious that Nextel has this feature any executive of another company would surely have contacted his lawyers about it first. I'm sure they use different nuts-and-bolts architectures, but the idea of a walkie-talkie has been around much longer than Nextel.
