Just to close this case, I finally received an answer from Palm second level technical support that is telling me that "by desing" the palm
pré sync with exchange only 2 weeks back. This is by design.
Palm is aware of that and is working on an update to correct the situation that will hopefully be out before christmas.
I am hoping they are right. That will be good news for exchange user.
Let's wait and see.
