I'm running linux so I can't test this, but can you kill the process or stop a service on your pc to allow the safe removal?

Also, has anyone used wget on the pre? It allows you to download any file from the web straight to the phone, no additional ftp app needed. I was wondering if it could be in conjunction with the install.bat to install straight from the web...
